About my art work:
The works I have been
producing recently function as visual
conversations about the ways in which
individuals can develop and implement a
personal ethic or ideology within the
broader socio-political constructs of a
consumer society. They serve as meditations
on singular moments or points of individual
contention in the formation of cultural
identities. The scenes which I depict are
constructed, synthesized from a diverse
array of sources, rather than being drawn
directly from reality. Techniques of
narrative, pattern and perspective provide a
way in to a subjective engagement with the
ideological questions embedded in the works.
It is never my intention to present
singular, grand concepts or a closed set of
ideas, but to elicit questions and
reflections from the viewer.
Places that I stalk become a visual
playground
typically explore the politics of taste,
class, and art. I often seek to connect
viewers to social and cultural
stratification through the use of
socio-historically things.
